Senior Linux Engineer

(full-timer and freelancer)

Location

• Shenzhen China and/or remote collaboration

Responsibilities

• Linux-based OS development:  design system architecture, planning, development, improvement, maintenance 

• Documentation: Create and maintain documentation

• Provide guidance and leadership to less experienced engineers, share knowledge with junior team members, and collaborate with other teams to ensure the transfer of expertise

Qualifications and Experience
 

Mandatory skills

• English: strong written and verbal communication skills

• Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science is preferable, electrical engineering, or a related field

• At least 5 years of Linux experience

• Good interpersonal and communication skills

• Basic Linux and Linux-Kernel programming skills

• Technical writing and documentation skills

• Knowledge of Linux environment & architecture 

• Strong shell scripting skills

• Basic Git usage skill

• Knowledge in at least one upper-tier scripting language like Python, Perl, JS

• Linux system management, setup, configuration, hardening, backup, recovery, etc...

• Familiar with main Linux distros

• Familiar with x86 and ARM platform

• Experience with Single Board Computers - basic understanding of components such as the SoC, UART, GPIO, i2c, SPI, BROM, MMC ...

•  Able to build Linux from scratch

Desirable Skills

• Basic system & network security skills

• Virtualization & containers: QEMU KVM Xen Docker etc ...  

• Network stacks: HTTP, TCP, UDP, SSH, RSYNC, FDTP, SFTP etc 

• Network traffic analysis

• Basic client/server programming skills

• Basic WEB programming HTML, JS, CSS, etc 

• Good experience with WEB servers: like Nginx, CGI, FastCGI, Websockets 

• Familiar with the OpenWRT environment

• English native speaker

• Basic Mandarin skills (EN/CN bilingual)
